Former Soviet Union - A People Group Focus for December
December is always a busy time for most, but we can all take a few minutes each day to pray for those who don't know the One that we celebrate this month, the Lord Jesus Christ and His birth!
The many different cultures and people groups which emerged out of the ashes of the fallen Communist system are the focus of the IMB's week of prayer December 2nd thru the 9th. Each day focuses on prayer for a special group of folks like the Russians, the Uzbeks, the Ukrainains, the Turkmen, the Udmurts, the Meskhetian Turks, the Students of Central Asia and the People of Kazakhstan.
Although the names of these people and places may sound weird, they are folks whom God loves and wants to be apart of His Kingdom!
All during the month of December, we will be receiving donations for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, which goes to support the cultures listed above and many others. More than 280 million people in 350 unreached people groups (more than 90% of all people groups in the former Soviet Union) still have not heard the life changing message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Your gifts through the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering support more than 5,000 missionaries world wide. Just as important as the financial gifts are the prayers. Lift up prayers for these people groups all during December that they may know the joy of this season as we experience it here at home!
